On April 5, 2009, The McCartney Years received the Fan Favourite Award at the Jack Richardson Music Awards in London, Ontario.
The audience-voted honour marked an important early milestone for the production, which had been founded only two years earlier. More than an industry accolade, the award represented the enthusiasm of the people who had experienced the show and supported its commitment to recreating Paul McCartney’s music with authenticity, energy and attention to detail.
The awards were named in honour of legendary Canadian record producer Jack Richardson, whose credits included The Guess Who, Alice Cooper, Bob Seger and Badfinger. A longtime London resident and Fanshawe College educator, Richardson was known for encouraging Canadian talent and strengthening the local music community.
For The McCartney Years, being chosen as the 2009 Fan Favourite confirmed that its audience wanted more than a conventional tribute show. They connected with an immersive concert experience built around the sound, musicianship and excitement of McCartney’s live performances.
